Stop treating AI fluency and human judgment as separate tracks. They're priced differently, and that gap is widening. Here's how to act on that:

  • Identify one recurring decision in your current role where AI can generate options but a human must own the outcome. Document your reasoning process for that decision explicitly. Make the invisible visible, because that's what you're being paid for.
  • If you manage a team, put one person formally in charge of challenging AI outputs, not just using them. Give that role a name and a seat at the table when results are reviewed. The accountability structure signals what the organisation actually values.
  • Build your ethical reasoning deliberately. Read one regulatory guidance document relevant to your industry's AI use per quarter. The human skills that AI cannot replicate deepen with structured exposure to real constraints, not just abstract principles.
